Hooded nudibranchs are unique in that unlike other nudibranchs that hunt, they use their hoods to filter food out of the water. They can be found clinging to kelp and rocks in protected waters.

About the image 
Hooded nudibranchs are commonly found clinging to eelgrass and kelp in the sheltered waters of British Columbia. These two had gathered along a rising strand of kelp on the Sunshine Coast. Their translucent hoods opened and closed slowly as they fed, trapping small crustaceans from the water.
